@Anon Do you trace your rough draft when you’re inking? That might be why since I had the similar issue. This happens because you’re comparing it to the pencil ART, and treating it as if the sketch was your finished form, at least that’s what I think. Try completely avoid aiming your sketch to look like what you want it to be, and only draw out a very loose guide. Then, focus “drawing” when you’re inking. I only sketch out the important balances and bone structures and go straight into B&W. Especially working with digital since you can erase the lines as much as I want. It also forces you to make mistake lines and that usually thickens certain areas so there’s variation of line width, and creates sketchier lines so it looks more rough and natural. If you’re too much of a perfectionist, force your self to sketch only with sharpies and ball point pens to practice. Hope that helps!

I’m still hard-core-following my goals, and I’m ready to take on a bumpy ride; I might need to change my plans here and there, but all it matters is to reach my ultimate goal at the end you know? Sometimes being slow is a good thing. It’s better to solidify your basis than having a shaky backbone. Again, all it matters is that you tried, and you enjoyed, and be satisfied at the end!
